Značaj 38. izdanja Filmskog festivala u Herceg Novom (FFHN) potvrđuju brojne prijave filmova, bogat i raznovrstan program, kao i niz novina koje uključuju selekciju serija, fokus na žene autorke, kao i radionice za mlade filmske stvaraoce, čime se dodatno osnažuje uloga festivala kao ključne platforme za promociju regionalne kinematografije i razvoj filmske industrije u Crnoj Gori. To je, u intervjuu za PR Centar, kazala predsjednica Savjeta FFHN Aleksandra Božović.
Ona je ocijenilada jeznačaj Hercegnovskog filmskog festivala za filmsku umjetnost, kako u Crnoj Gori tako i u regionu, veoma veliki.
„To potvrđuje i njegovo dugogodišnje postojanje, festival se ove godine održava po 38. put. Broj filmova prijavljenih u sve tri selekcije: takmičarskoj za dugometražni igrani film, za studentske filmove i za dokumentarne filmove, svjedoči o rezultatima rada i ulaganja. Takođe, publika koja sa velikom radošću i entuzijazmom svake godine dolazi na Kanli Kulu, Forte Mare i ove godine u Dvoranu Park, potvrđuje da se ide u pravom smjeru“, istakla je Božović.
Prema njenim riječima, iako su neka izdanja festivala bila bolja, neka samo zadovoljavajuća, zajednički entuzijazam ne jenjava, navodeči da su očekivanja za 38. izdanje velika.
„Festival je doprinio prepoznatljivosti crnogorskog filma, kao što i crnogorski film doprinosi prepoznatljivosti festivala. Prate jedno drugo. Crnogorski film posljednjih 5–6 godina sve je zapaženiji na festivalima u regionu i Evropi, što se poklapa sa osnivanjem Filmskog centra Crne Gore, koji već osam godina kontinuirano sufinansira filmsku produkciju. Rezultati su izuzetno vidljivi, ove godine na Kanli Kuli biće prikazano osam filmova većinske ili manjinske crnogorske produkcije“, navela je Božović.
Istakla je da ovogodišnje izdanje festivala donosi brojne novine.
„Prvi put je uvedena tzv. TV niša – predstavljanje serija iz regiona kroz prikaz po jedne epizode u Dvorani Park, uz razgovore o serijama. Ova inicijativa prati prošlogodišnji konkurs Filmskog centra za sufinansiranje razvoja scenarija i projekata dugometražnih kinematografskih djela. Pored predstavljanja regionalnih televizijskih serija, imaćemo i predstavljanje crnogorskih projekata koji su bili podržani na prošlogodišnjem konkrusu pred publikom i žirijem, a Radio-televizija Crne Gore nagradiće najbolji od njih“, rekla je Božović.
Ukazala je da je još jedna novina jeste prikazivanje studentskih filmova u Stari grad, kao i predstavljanje dokumentarnih filmova u Andrićevoj kući.
„Poseban segment festivala biće posvećen ženama filmskim stvaraocima. Na inicijativu Filmskog centra Crne Gore i u okviru UNICA fondacije za Jugoistočnu Evropu, organizovaće se razgovori na ovu temu, uz gostovanje rediteljke Ide Begić. Ona će sa prisutnima podijeliti iskustva o izazovima i motivaciji žena u filmskoj industriji“, navela je Božović.
Kazala je da će, pored svega navedenog, Filmski centar Crne Gore ostvariti saradnju sa Yorkshire Screening-om, u okviru koje će biti organizovane radionice.
„Ovom prilikom pozivam zainteresovane mlade da se pridruže i učestvuju u radionicama na kojima će imati priliku da nauče kako se radi na filmu, šta su filmska zanimanja i na koji način mogu doprinijeti razvoju filmske kulture među omladinom. Cilj nam je da mladi ne budu samo aktivni gledaoci filmova, već i budući članovi filmskih ekipa, da stvaraju filmove i aktivno učestvuju u razvoju crnogorske kinematografije“, poručila je Božović.
Istakla je i da će, kroz predstavljanje MEDIA programa Kreativne Evrope, uz podršku Ministarstva kulture i medija Crne Gore i Filmskog centra, biti objašnjeno kako se filmski stvaraoci mogu prijaviti na evropske konkurse.
Govoreći o drugom izdanju Montenegro Film Rendezvousa, koji se održava u okviru Hercegnovskog filmskog festivala, Božović je pojasnila je da ovaj segment predstavlja značajnu platformu za umrežavanje filmskih profesionalaca.
„Imaćemo priliku da ugostimo preko 40 stranih filmskih eksperata iz cijele Evrope i svijeta i predstavimo im crnogorske projekte. To je izuzetno značajno i bitno za crnogorsku filmsku umjetnost“, istakla je Božović.
Ukazala je da se poseban značaj ovogodišnjeg događaja ogleda i u činjenici da će po prvi put na jednom mjestu biti prisutni predstavnici Francuskog filmskog fonda, najvećeg evropskog filmskog fonda.
„Oni dolaze u čast potpisivanja prvog bilateralnog koprodukcionog sporazuma između Crne Gore i Francuske u oblasti kinematografije. Pored njih, u Herceg Novom će boraviti i francuski producenti, koji će imati priliku da se upoznaju sa crnogorskim projektima i da započnu saradnju sa crnogorskim filmskim radnicima, s ciljem zajedničkog razvoja projekata i apliciranja na francuske filmske fondove“, navela je Božović.
Najavila je da će događaju prvi put prisustvovati predstavnici British Film Institute-a, jednog od vodećih filmskih fondova u Evropi.
„Uz podršku Britanskog savjeta, imaćemo priliku da čujemo na koji način crnogorski producenti i autori mogu da apliciraju na konkurse ovog prestižnog instituta“, pojasnila je Božović.
Veliko zadovoljstvo i čast, kako je dodala, predstavlja i dolazak gostiju iz jedne od najvećih svjetskih postprodukcijskih kuća – Framestore.
„Festival će ugostiti njihovog kreativnog direktora Mikea McGee-a i direktoricu zaduženu za vođenje njihovih firmi širom svijeta, koji će sa prisutnima podijeliti iskustva o tome kako se dolazi do najviših priznanja u industriji, uključujući i više od pet osvojenih Oskara“, rekla je Božović.
Naglasila je i važnost prisustva direktora filmskih centara iz Grčke, Kipra, Jermenije, Moldavije, Bugarske, Turske, Hrvatske, Slovenije, Bosne i Hercegovine, Albanije, Srbije, Luksemburga i drugih država regiona i Evrope, koji su se odazvali pozivu da dođu i upoznaju se sa crnogorskom kinematografijom.
„Smatram da je to veliki uspjeh, jer ćemo sjutra imati mogućnost da naši filmovi budu poznati selektorima prestižnih festivala, kao što su Tribeca i Berlinale, čiji predstavnici dolaze kao naši gosti“, kazala je Božović.
Ocijenila je da Filmski festival u Herceg-Novom ne samo da prati crnogorsku kinematografiju, već joj i značajno doprinosi.
„Ono što sada radimo jeste velika zajednička pobjeda svih nas: Hercegnovskog filmskog festivala i njegovih osnivača, na prvom mjestu Ministarstva kulture i medija, Opštine Herceg Novi, Filmskog centra Crne Gore kao javne ustanove, kao i Crnogorske kinoteke. Kontinuirani rast i razvoj crnogorske kinematografije pokazuje svoje rezultate, a gdje će oni bolje doći do izražaja nego na festivalu od nacionalnog značaja kao što je Hercegnovski filmski festival“, zaključila je Božović.
38. Filmski festival Herceg Novi – Montenegro Film Festival biće održan od od 23. do 29. avgusta, a najznačajniji filmski događaj ljeta publici donosi više od 60 ostvarenja u tri takmičarske selekcije i revijalnim programima, pod sloganom „Sve boje filma“.

Božović: A Rich Program at FFHN and Strong Support for the Development of Montenegrin Cinema
The importance of the 38th edition of the Herceg Novi Film Festival (FFHN) is confirmed by the large number of film submissions, the rich and diverse program, as well as several innovations that include a TV series selection, a focus on women filmmakers, and workshops for young film creators—further strengthening the Festival’s role as a key platform for promoting regional cinema and developing the film industry in Montenegro. This was stated in an interview for PR Center by the President of the FFHN Council, Aleksandra Božović.
She emphasized that the significance of the Herceg Novi Film Festival for film art, both in Montenegro and the wider region, is substantial.
“This is confirmed by its long tradition, as the Festival is held for the 38th time this year. The number of films submitted across all three categories—feature film competition, student film competition, and documentary film competition—testifies to the results of dedicated work and investment. Moreover, the audience, which every year comes with joy and enthusiasm to Kanli Kula, Forte Mare, and now to Dvorana Park proves that we are on the right path,” Božović said.
According to her, while some editions of the Festival have been stronger and others only satisfactory, the shared enthusiasm has never waned, and expectations for the 38th edition remain high.
“The Festival has contributed to the recognition of Montenegrin cinema, just as Montenegrin cinema has contributed to the recognition of the Festival. They follow each other. Over the past five to six years, Montenegrin films have become increasingly visible at festivals across the region and Europe. This coincides with the founding of the Film Centre of Montenegro, which has been continuously co-financing film production for the past eight years. The results are clear—this year, eight films of majority or minority Montenegrin production will be screened at Kanli Kula,” Božović noted.
She highlighted that this year’s edition brings a number of innovations.
“For the first time, we are introducing a so-called TV Niche—presenting regional TV series by screening one episode in Dvorana Park, followed by discussions. This initiative follows last year’s call by the Film Centre for the development of scripts and feature film projects. Along with presenting regional TV series, we will also showcase Montenegrin projects supported in last year’s call, in front of the public and a jury, with the Radio Television of Montenegro awarding the best among them,” Božović said.
She also pointed out other novelties, such as the screening of student films in the Old Town and documentaries at the Ivo Andrić House.
“A special segment of the Festival will be dedicated to women filmmakers. At the initiative of the Film Centre of Montenegro and within the UNICA Foundation for Southeast Europe, discussions on this topic will be organized, with guest director Ida Begić, who will share her experiences on the challenges and motivation of women in the film industry,” Božović explained.
In addition, she noted that the Film Centre of Montenegro will establish cooperation with Yorkshire Screening, within which workshops will be held.
“I invite interested young people to join and participate in workshops where they will learn about filmmaking, film professions, and ways they can contribute to the development of film culture among youth. Our goal is for young people not only to be active viewers of films, but also future members of film crews—to create films and actively contribute to the development of Montenegrin cinema,” Božović said.
She also announced that through the presentation of the MEDIA program of Creative Europe, with the support of the Ministry of Culture and Media of Montenegro and the Film Centre, filmmakers will be guided on how to apply for European funding opportunities.
Speaking about the second edition of the Montenegro Film Rendezvous, held within the Festival, Božović explained that this segment represents an important platform for networking among film professionals.
“We will host more than 40 international film experts from across Europe and beyond, presenting them with Montenegrin projects. This is highly significant for Montenegrin cinema,” she emphasized.
She underlined the importance of this year’s event, which will, for the first time, gather representatives of the French Film Fund, the largest European film fund.
“They are coming to mark the signing of the first bilateral co-production agreement between Montenegro and France in the field of cinema. Alongside them, French producers will also be present in Herceg Novi, with an opportunity to get acquainted with Montenegrin projects and start collaborations with Montenegrin filmmakers, with the goal of jointly developing projects and applying to French film funds,” Božović stated.
She announced that representatives of the British Film Institute, one of Europe’s leading film funds, will also attend for the first time.
“With the support of the British Council, we will hear how Montenegrin producers and authors can apply to this prestigious institute’s calls,” Božović explained.
A special honor, she added, is the visit of guests from Framestore, one of the world’s largest post-production companies.
“The Festival will host their Creative Director Mike McGee and the global Managing Director, who will share insights into achieving the highest recognition in the industry, including more than five Academy Awards,” Božović said.
She also stressed the importance of welcoming directors of film centers from Greece, Cyprus, Armenia, Moldova, Bulgaria, Turkey, Croatia, Slovenia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Albania, Serbia, Luxembourg, and other countries across the region and Europe, who accepted the invitation to come and learn about Montenegrin cinema.
“I consider this a great success, as it will enable our films to be introduced to selectors of prestigious festivals such as Tribeca and Berlinale, whose representatives will be our guests,” Božović said.
She assessed that the Herceg Novi Film Festival not only follows Montenegrin cinema but significantly contributes to it.
“What we are doing now is a major collective achievement for all of us: the Herceg Novi Film Festival and its founders—first and foremost the Ministry of Culture and Media, the Municipality of Herceg Novi, the Film Centre of Montenegro as a public institution, and the Montenegrin Cinematheque. The continuous growth and development of Montenegrin cinema is evident, and where better to showcase these results than at a festival of national importance such as the Herceg Novi Film Festival,” Božović concluded.
The 38th Herceg Novi Film Festival – Montenegro Film Festival will be held from August 23rd to 29th, bringing audiences more than 60 films across three competition categories and non-competition programs, under the slogan “All the Colors of Film’’.
