Anatomy of a Lost Sound explores an incendiary sound and the space it created, a para-military camp for youth. This audiovisual document traces the sound’s biography and the individuals who fuelled its rise, diffusion, and manipulation. Based on anecdotal and archival histories, it examines those who took education into their own hands.
Fragmentarni i biografski filmovi Zuka Garagića, istovremeno ekspresionistički i arhivski, istražuju ono što naziva arhivama zamišljenog. Takođe, u postprodukciji je svog drugog hibridnog kratkog filma o češko-italijanskom novinaru i nerazjašnjenim smrtnim slučajevima Roma u Češkoj krajem 90-ih.
Zuko Garagić’s fragmentary and biographical cinema – at once expressionist and archival – pursues what he calls archives of the imagined. Through setting dead facts in the present, his works transport the past from a distant object to a haunting presence. He graduated summa cum laude from NYU and earned his MFA from Columbia University, where he also taught film as a Teaching Fellow and Adjunct Professor. He is currently working on a documentary about European immigrants who crossed the Atlantic to fight in the American Civil War, lured by the promise of citizenship. He is also in post-production on his second creative hybrid short, centred on a Czech-Italian journalist and the unresolved deaths of Roma individuals in the Czech Republic in the late 90s.
