Following an emotional breakdown caused by her mother’s death, Maruša establishes an online connection with Alja, a nurse living in a small coastal town in Germany. Bonding over humor and shared life struggles, Maruša and Alja quickly develop a friendship that will be put to the test when they finally meet in person.
Urša Menart graduated in film and television directing from the Academy of Theatre, Radio, Film and Television at the University of Ljubljana. She has directed documentary films and was the co-screenwriter of two feature films: Nightlife (Nightlife, Karlovy Vary International Film Festival, 2016) and Half-Sister (Half-Sister, Karlovy Vary International Film Festival, 2019). Her debut feature film, which she wrote and directed, My Last Year as a Loser (My Last Year as a Loser, 2018), won numerous awards at the Festival of Slovenian Film, including the award for Best Film.
