When Lisa asks about her grandfather’s gold mines, the answer is clear: all documents were burned. She investigates his ties to Mobutu Sese Seko and the mining business in what was then Zaire, and the gaps in the family archives begin to resonate as a broader social question. The Right to Be Forgotten explores how silence and denial shape both intimate and national memory.
Lisa Mazenauer is an artist and director with a background in sociology (UNIL), photography (ECAL), and fine arts (HGK). She approaches film as a way of exploring and reflecting on stories rooted in places marked by personal and industrial heritage.
