The exodus of Aegean Macedonians from the Aegean part of Macedonia represents a painful subject for many Macedonians. This event changed the names of towns and villages, as well as family surnames. Andon Done Andonov, my grandfather, narrates the story of his mother Marika Paskaleva, a refugee from Boymitsa in Aegean Macedonia, today’s Axioupoli in Greece. Through photographs, memories, and anecdotes, we learn about Marika’s life journey and the mark she left on her family, in a story told by Andon Andonov from Gevgelija.
Darko Gjurovikj is a second-year student at the Faculty of Dramatic Arts in Skopje, in the Film and Television Directing department, in the class of Prof. Antonio Mitrikeski, PhD. He was born on June 10, 2005. His interests are focused on socially engaged projects, such as the Erasmus+ program, as well as language, art, and social communication. He is a participant in a multimedia project by the Goethe-Institut and the French Institute in Skopje. He has directed the student films: the self-portrait “Photo Album”, the documentary “A Vain Desire To Return”, and the chase film “Attention”.
