In the dark hours of the curfew in Kharkiv, a quiet tension pulses through the city’s empty streets. People working at night balance between everyday life and danger, as Russia often carries out attacks precisely when residents are trying to fall asleep. Their nightly hope is that dawn will arrive in silence.
Megumi Lim is a documentary filmmaker from Singapore who lives and works in Kyiv. She spent a decade working as a video journalist and freelance reporter in Tokyo and Beijing, reporting from various parts of Asia for outlets such as Reuters and The Washington Post. After moving to Ukraine in 2023, she directed the documentary film Night Shift.
