Sinopsis

After the suppression of protests in Iran, citizens begin documenting the unrest from behind their windows. When a woman is killed while filming, a film directing student writes her a letter, asking: can a revolution be waged from behind a window?

 

Director

Mehraneh Salimian is an Iranian director who earned an MA in Film Studies at the School of the Art Institute of Chicago. Her work spans documentary and fiction film, as well as video installations, through which she explores the relationship between public and private space and the sensory dimensions of personal and collective memory. Her short documentary film Window Memories premiered at the 76th Berlinale, where it won the Crystal Bear for Best Short Film in the Generation programme, as well as a Special Mention from the International Jury.

 

Amin Pakparvar is an Iranian director and essayist. During his MA in Visual and Critical Studies at the School of the Art Institute of Chicago, he focused his interests on archival research. His latest documentary film Window Memories premiered at the 76th Berlinale, where it won the Crystal Bear for Best Short Film in the Generation programme, as well as a Special Mention from the International Jury.
